The Billing Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Billing within the Accounting Department. Qualified candidates must have a proven track record of leading a law firm billing function. The position reports to the Chief Finance Officer and is responsible for supervising another member of the team and supporting attorneys and paralegals. Will be responsible for managing the full billing cycle and monthly close of the billing system, as well as the complete process of compiling timekeeping records and generating regular bills to clients as required. This is a hands-on role requiring successful interaction with all employees and clients.


  • Job Requirements

    Must have 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience.

    Solid skills and resourcefulness in managing billing system software and user issues, evaluating options to implement practical solutions and anticipating future needs. Ability to effectively communicate and provide direction on billing requirements and solutions to the Accounting Department and end-users to ensure the delivery of superior service and support to all users

    • Excellent written and verbal skills required to effectively present and communicate information to all levels of employees
    • Excellent analytical skills and business judgment, as well as sound problem solving skills necessary to compile, analyze and interpret client billing data
    • High level services skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding user support and continuous process improvements
    • Unquestionable capacity to maintain full confidentiality on sensitive issues and ensure full confidentiality of Accounting information.
    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of related law firm billing experience.
    • Ability to build relationships of trust, respect and productive interactions with all levels of attorneys and staff
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and work extended hours as necessary to fulfill time sensitive responsibilities.

    Technical skills and experience with the following are desired:

    • Familiarity in managing accounting systems and timekeeping/billing software program
    • Experience in working through a timekeeping/billing software system transition
    • Familiarity with Rainmaker (Pyramid) timekeeping/billing systems a plus, but not required
    • Advanced skills in Excel in both utilizing and creating spreadsheets, along with solid skills in Word and Outlook.
