The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for identifying the needs of business owners and stakeholders for determining firm-wide solutions.  Responsible for analyzing, validating and documenting organizational requirements.  Will serve as facilitator for requirements gathering sessions and acts as a bridge between the business owners, stakeholders, and the Application Services team throughout the project life cycle.  Solid understanding of information management, system integration, and tiered application concepts.

  • Job Requirements

    • Define and document detailed business and user requirements after thorough analysis of business workflows and system requirements.
    • Work closely with developers in translating business requirement into design specifications involving creating wireframes, workflow diagrams, and detailed use cases that meet the specific business requirements.
    • Coordinate cross-functional/departmental meetings utilizing a combination of in-person and online collaboration. In addition, having the experience to know the difference between the need for limited working sessions and larger cross-function communication meetings.
    • Provide clear, detailed project scoping and requirements documentation to be used by IT Application engineers and developers to build solutions.
    • Capture, track, analyze and communicate requirement change requests, enhancements, and defects.
    • Consults with cross-department business application owners to determine needs for new systems and enhancements.
    • Assists with project management and development of new protocols throughout the complete lifecycle of projects and initiatives.
    • Researches and remains current on emerging technologies, trends and related innovations in the legal industry as well as various professional services industries; introduces ideas and makes recommendations to advance implementation of technology and other solutions throughout the Firm.
    • Writes test plans, coordinates and participates in system and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
    • Manage multiple concurrent projects.  Ensure firm standards for data security are met in each solution.  Devise process for operational handoff of new systems. 


    • At least 3 years experience as a Business Analyst, in either systems or application development projects.
    • Experience gathering business requirements through various methods from business stakeholders, and documenting those requirements through business requirements documents and use cases.
    • Solid understanding of the SDLC process
    • Proven track record in gathering and documenting  business requirements and translating to technical requirements.
    • User interface (UI)  design experience (UML, user stories, personas, wireframes)
    • Experience with Agile, Scrum, IIBA BABOK or PMBOK/PMP project management methods
    • Strong negotiating and consensus building skills
    • Possess excellent listening, oral, written and presentation skills.  Ability to tailor communication style depending on the audience.
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and strong attention to details
    • Ability to support multiple initiatives concurrently 

      Familiarity with the following technologies are a strong plus:

      • Knowledge of content management and collaborations technologies

      • Enterprise Search
      • Microsoft Technologies:  SharePoint, SQL, Microsoft Office, Windows 7, Windows 8.1
